Not NYTimes,But Washington Post: A New Gloss On Freedom, draws our attentions to so-called Sexual Revolution and the pursuit of Freedom in China through Muzimei.
A recent hit book is titled "Breaking Up at First Light: The One-Night Stands of 19 City Girls." Fueled by a free-wheeling bar culture and Internet chat rooms that group people looking for sex, the social changes are another example of the widening space afforded personal freedom in the People's Republic of China. These changes are not without risks. China's sexual revolution is occurring against the backdrop of a growing AIDS problem in a society where young men and women don't practice safe sex.
***Hint:That hit book is《天亮以后说分手:19位都市女性一夜情口述实录》
"My mother's world and mine are totally different," said Cao. "She was a virgin when she married at 23. I lost my virginity when I was 18. And I don't want to get married at least until I'm 30."Debbie Cao, an art student in Beijing, currently has two boyfriends, one a married man. "It's normal," she said.
"If you have sex, you aren't necessarily in love. If you are in love, you aren't necessarily married. If you are married, you don't necessarily have kids. If you have kids, you don't need to be married."
I don't know whether the sex revolution has some relationship wiht the democoracy?
